DESCRIPTION

SHROUDED IN DARKNESS…
If it hadn’t been for King Leonidas, white witch Ceva would have roamed the earth alone and ostracized. She was a biological accident, and her heritage was a curse she’d carry around for all her days. Now she fights for her king and kingdom, a fierce warrior on a mission to prove she is worthy of the trust and friendship the king has afforded. When she meets Lothar, captain of the Black Ridge Wolf Pack guard, she glimpses a future she never thought possible. But once he knows her truths, he will surely reject her.
ONLY HE CAN SET HER FREE
Lothar had never met anyone like Ceva. Beautiful, fierce, protective and loyal, she would make the perfect mate for any man. Lothar wants to be that man, but Ceva remains elusive. Sure, she flirts, and they dance around each other, but Lothar wants more. When his team joins hers on a dangerous mission, he learns her secrets, which makes her more extraordinary, not the pariah she believes she is. But her past is about to catch up with her, and only his love can save them from certain death.

EXCERPT:

With one last look at Lothar’s breathing but still figure, her heart sank. She crouched lower and dug her fingers farther into the dirt and continued chanting. The sounds of fighting drifted away as she molded the earth to doing her bidding. The ground underneath each ogre began to tremble and shift. Ceva pushed more power into her incantation and felt it spike as the ground opened under each ogre and became quicksand, sucking each one down, until only the wolves remained. Ceva felt her powers waning and went to her hands and knees to draw breath into her shaking body.

“Swear to the heavens, you’re going to be the death of me, Ceva,” Lothar growled as he knelt beside her. “You will surely give me a heart attack before this is over.”

“Wouldn’t want to interrupt your rambling,” she moaned, “but do you think you can help me stand?” Ceva retracted her wings, absorbing them back into her body through the slits in her shirt.

“I can do better than that.” He lifted her from the ground and held her to his muscled chest. Don’t get used to this. No distractions, remember?

“My savior,” she joked. “You just wanted to get your hands on me.”

“Savior, damn right.” She noted he didn’t respond to her other comment.

“How long will you be here?” She half hoped it was for a while.

“Until the job is done, we’re at your disposal,” Lothar replied. “Then we can go back to our pack.”

“Lucky me.” Ceva laughed. “Try not to get yourself killed.” Please be safe.

“You know you want me here,” he whispered into her ear, his warm breath sending shivers throughout her body. Instead of answering, she crossed her arms, making him smile wider.

About the Author:
Candi Fox, co-host of the wildly popular radio show Candi and Company with over 900 thousand listeners began her venture in the paranormal at the tender age of two, when she witnessed her first apparition. From that moment on the paranormal seemed to follow her. No matter where she moved, the house she lived in the house next door, or the house down the street always seemed to be haunted.  She often wondered if she drew the spirits to her. Little did she know that she was indeed a magnet of sorts. It wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she found people who could not only explain her gifts, but would also help her hone them. Armed with this new knowledge she began to openly explore hauntings and other paranormal phenomena.

Growing up in Indiana lent her the opportunity to explore many famous haunted places including the Hannah House, which was once part of the Underground Railroad. A little over two years ago she moved to Tulsa, OK and has began to explore the haunted landscape in a new state. Candi lives with her husband, and furry children in Tulsa. She is passionate about the occult, saving and rehabilitating horses, horseback riding, magic, all things mystical and has her Reiki Mastery. She uses her own paranormal experiences as well as her own life traumas to write from a grounded and realistic perspective about subjects that are hard to talk about and even harder to feel for yourself.

Tiger's Mate by April Zyon #PNR #Contemporary #Eotic #Romance #Anthology

AprilZyon-BadAlhaMF-evernightpublishing-jayaheer2015-banner

 Blurb:

Streak politics, and differences in opinions forced Kurt Owens to choose his own path. While it may be outside of the law in many regards he sees it as ensuring justice for the true victims of crimes when the system fails them. It’s his way of seeing the guilty pay, and keeping his own inner beast in check with the violence, and blood it craves.

Everyone thinks having a super power would be great. Alexa Harold would beg to differ. She’s been cursed to see ghosts, the dead not yet having gone to their final resting place, or judgment, or wherever they belong. They track her down, and harass her until she’s ready to go mad. Learning early in life what she needs to avoid has been the only saving grace in keeping her sanity intact. Then she sees a man who couldn’t possibly be real. It was just her luck that such a prime specimen would in fact be deceased. Only he isn’t, and he’s taking notice of her.

With a little temptation, some mystery, and a taunt he leaves her wanting more. Kurt never thought he’d find his mate outside of the streak, or streak functions. While those of a supernatural inclination aren’t exactly rare, they have had to be careful and keep their population down. Alexa is the woman for him the only one he could ever want or need. And when her life is put in danger by his own past Kurt won’t stop until everyone understands to get to this tiger’s mate, they’ll have to get through him.

Excerpt

Wrapping his hand around the fresh long neck the bartender slid his way, Kurt lifted it to his lips to take a long drink. His contact was late. Never a good sign when the guy who did all his go-between work wasn’t on time. Especially when it was payday. Kurt would give the man another half hour before hunting his ass down. Any longer than that and the ditzy blonde at the other end of the bar might garner up some courage to come talk to him. Her friends had been daring her to since they’d caught sight of him. So far she’d resisted their urging despite the number of hungry looks she’d sent his way.

While he had zero problems hooking up with some random, preferably nameless, chick in a bar, that one looked like serious trouble. He could have given anyone a multitude of reasons why. Namely he knew she was trouble by the two thousand dollar shoes, one and a half thou handbag, and he didn’t even want to tally up her outfit. Kurt wasn’t a connoisseur of fashion, not even close, but he’d been around enough to start to recognize the brand names. He had to be observant in what he did, as otherwise he’d end up dead. He took another long pull from the bottle, camouflaging his perusal of  the group so that they wouldn’t  perceive it as interest. The blonde was downing shots.

Freaking fan-fucking-tastic.

If she put enough down, she’d likely get up the courage to actually wobble over in her overpriced stilettos. Not what he wanted tonight. He was here to get paid for the job he’d completed, and then he was going to find a place where no one knew him to crash for many hours of peaceful slumber. Tensing, he felt someone getting close he let out a breath. Only the waitress. He’d chosen the end of the bar with the wall to his back so he could see the entire place, and so no one could get too close without him knowing. While it sucked if he had to bail, it was tactically the wisest location in case trouble came calling. And blonde bimbo was making her move.

Son of a fucking bitch.

She tottered across the bar, closing the distance between them as he waved the bartender over for another cold one. Relief crashed through him as his contact slid onto the empty seat at Kurt’s side.

“Sorry, man, fucking accident six blocks over fucked me right up. I’m late. I sincerely apologize. Didn’t know it was there until I was in the thick of the shit. It’s truly amazing how perfectly decent human beings turn into the Grim fucking Reaper when there’s a DOA at a crash. Couldn’t get a single one of them to move enough to let me through. Fuckers all looked at me like I was the douchebag.” Lenny signaled the bartender when he’d finished his spiel. Kurt gave the man a few moments to take a drink before he acknowledged him.

“No worries,” he said quietly. He didn’t bother mentioning he’d been mere minutes from heading out to hunt his scrawny ass down. No reason to upset the little guy unduly. Besides, Lenny knew what Kurt would do to him if the man didn’t show up for a meet.

“I tucked it into the usual spot,” Lenny said. Which meant Kurt’s payment was secured in Kurt’s truck in the lockbox in the back. “I may have another gig for you. I’ll need to do some background, and check a few of the less clear details, but I should know something in a couple of days.”

Kurt gave a slow nod. The blonde was back at the table of idiotic sorority types downing more shots.

“Shoot me a text for a meet when you feel confident about it.”

While Lenny might give the impression of being the unreliable sort, Kurt did trust him. To a degree. The man brokered all the deals, kept Kurt out of it all, and ensured Kurt got paid for what he did. Doing what he did, it wasn’t like Kurt could set up a web page and advertise. That was just begging for a one way ticket to a ten by eight cell for life, if not the chair. Tipping his beer up he did another visual sweep of the place.

Movement from the end of the bar near the girls caught his attention. Son of a … bikers, why the hell is it always bikers?

Most were good guys even if they did shit that had the law on their asses most of the time. Then there were the wannabes who acted tough, blew smoke, and basically started shit. The guys making lewd gestures to one another about the sorority sisters were very definitely in the second category. Big, scary looking, and assholes. They’d also been drinking so it was a situation ripe, and ready to explode.

Setting his beer down Kurt turned slightly. “You may want to finish that up, and clear out. There’s about to be trouble in here.”

Kurt was itching for a fight. His last job had gone smoothly, too smoothly for him. He was a hands-on sort that liked to get good and bloody. The biker assholes might finally give him a way to let off a bit of steam. And if he happened to break a few of their bones or faces, all the better in his mind.

While Kurt’s conscience didn’t pipe up all that often, there was no way he’d risk the guy that was his go-to man. “Uh, shit, right.”

Lenny chugged the last of his beer quickly. He reached to his pocket. “I got it, go.”

Kurt pulled off a couple of bills to pay for his beers and Lenny’s. The man took a cut off every job Kurt completed, which was all of them because he was that fucking good, but Kurt still paid for his drinks at every meet.

“One of these days I will pay for a drink, you know.”

“You can try, but we both know who has the better and faster moves. Now go. You’re no use to me in a hospital.”

“The love and concern for my wellbeing I feel pouring off you warms my heart.”

Hearing the sarcasm Kurt turned his eyes on the other man, and growled. Not some pissy ass sound a human could make, but a sound only a born predator could pull from the bowels of his gut.

Excerpt:

Cassius Cupid woke with a start, and then sat bolt upright in his bed. Shit, I’m going to be late! was his first thought.

Milliseconds later his brain switched on, and he remembered. He was on holiday. Flopping back onto the warm mattress and pillows with a contented sigh, he smiled. No work for fourteen whole days—it was going to be utter bliss. He stretched, relishing the feeling it created in his sleep-softened muscles. Ahhh…this is the life.

He knew he wouldn’t go back to sleep—hell, it was eight o’clock, which was practically the middle of the day for someone in his profession—so Cassius fell to thinking about how he was going to spend his day, not to mention the several others in front of him. God knew he deserved to relax and have some fun. He’d just emerged from the busiest part of his year, and he was more than ready to do some chilling out.

He enjoyed his job as a postman—he really did—but the Christmas period was a total killer. He idly wondered how many cards and presents he’d delivered over the past few weeks. It didn’t bear thinking about. Once you factored in the festive period itself, the weird few days between Christmas and New Year, and then the flurry of mail that got sent when everyone went back to work properly at the beginning of January, he’d racked up some serious deliveries. And that was before you even thought about his other job—which was for just one day a year, but was arguably more important than the other 364 put together.

Cassius—or Cupid, as he was known to his boss and colleagues in his second, but most important job—was not only a regular postman for the Royal Mail, but also a reindeer. For a single day of the year, Cassius had the supernatural power to transform into one of Santa’s faithful steeds and help pull that famous magical sleigh, delivering presents to excited children the world over.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Cassius really did eat, sleep and breathe deliveries, but not for the next fourteen days. All he planned to do was watch some TV, read some books, maybe go out hiking, meet some friends… basically anything that wasn’t delivering something to someone. Hey, he might even receive something through the post himself—preferably not the usual crap; bills and junk mail. He didn’t hold out much hope.

He lounged in bed for another ten minutes before realising he was lying there just for the sake of it. Being on holiday didn’t have to equal staying in bed all day—and certainly not for someone as active as him. He reached over to his bedside table, grabbed his glasses and put them on. Throwing off his thick duvet, he walked to his bedroom window and peeked out through the curtains, immediately glad of the effective central heating he and his housemate had forked out to have installed the previous year.

The outside world was covered in a thick layer of snow, and Cassius was mightily glad that he wasn’t out delivering letters and parcels. The stuff was treacherous enough without having to carry a heavy bag up and down driveways, paths, and pavements — most of which either hadn’t been cleared, or had been cleared badly, leaving incredibly slippery patches of ground for an unsuspecting postie to come across. God knows he’d gone down enough times, but, much to his relief, nobody had ever seen him do it. He’d always been relatively unharmed—excerpt for his pride, of course—and had been able to scramble back to his feet and carry on.

The eerie silence outside was broken by the rumble of an engine, and Cassius turned his head to look up the street—he lived in a cul-de-sac, so he knew that’s where the vehicle would come from—and watched as a delivery van made its way slowly and carefully down the road. He hoped the driver was sensible enough to try and steer over the thickest parts of the snow—the more people went over and over the same patches, packing it down, the more the road surface resembled an ice rink. And since the cul-de-sac was on a slight hill, it was easy enough to get stuck. He’d seen it so many times—even going outside one time last winter to suggest the driver go down to the bottom of the road, turn around and try reversing up the hill—an almost foolproof plan for vans with rear-wheel drive. He’d gotten a big thumbs-up for that suggestion as the driver finally got to the junction where the road became flat, and went on his merry way.

As the van drew closer to his house, he saw that the driver was a woman. That would explain her cautious driving—he’d never admit it to one of his drinking buddies, but women were far superior when it came to driving in adverse weather conditions. He even thought he’d seen some survey containing statistics that proved it.

Jett's plan is halted when the compound is viciously attacked but not everyone will make it out of this battle alive...

Adult Excerpt:

Luke pulled his fingers from her and Addison gasped at the loss. Her pussy wasn’t lonely for long, though. Luke quickly went to his knees and wasted no time leaning his face into her. Addison huffed out her deep breath as his tongue touched her.

Just as he parted her pussy lips with his tongue, swiping up and gathering some of her cum, Gabe pressed his chest up against her back. This kept her more stable as Luke worked. Gabe brought his hands up and grabbed her tits, massaging them roughly as Luke flicked his tongue over her clit.

Addison’s legs started to tremble. Her shoulders were starting to burn from being in the same hanging position but she wasn’t quite ready to stop. Luke hummed against her clit and Addison moaned loudly. Her clit was starting to become sore and so were her breasts as Gabe continued to work them.

“It’s time to get her down.” Gabe’s words flowed over her shoulder.

Luke responded against her pussy lips by nodding his head up and down, letting his tongue slide through her lips. Addison’s whole body quivered. These men were almost too much for her. Almost. Luke’s face didn’t leave her pussy as Gabe released her breasts and went to work on her wrists.

He released her left arm first and held it in his hand. Gabe very slowly guided her arm down to her side. Her muscles screamed out as blood rushed down to her fingers. Luke grabbed her ass then, pressing her body even further against his face. His tongue was now very slowly slipping in and out of her cunt. Addison’s legs trembled again as her next orgasm built up.

Gabe followed the same procedure on her right arm, slowly letting it hang down. Again, pain ran through her and she whimpered. Luke gave her clit one more flick with his tongue causing her whole body to jerk. He finally came off her cunt and smiled up at her. Addison could see her juices coating his lips and face.

“So nice,” both brothers said in unison.

* * * *

Gabe inspected Addison’s backside. She had pretty pink stripes on her ass and thighs. He closed his eyes and exhaled. He knew that his needs were a bit harsher than Luke’s and he also knew that it killed his brother, just a little, to stand there and watch it but Gabe couldn’t help it. He held it in as much as possible but sometimes, it needed out.

Truthfully, there was much, much more inside him. If Gabe unleashed himself completely, Addison would still be strung up and would be covered in those pretty stripes. He knew that on some level she enjoyed mixing pain and pleasure. He also knew that she had a deep need to serve, to please.

Both of these aspects of Addison made him love her and he assumed that some of his dangerousness was what she loved about him. Gabe didn’t know the entire story behind his own dark desires but he couldn’t erase them. He needed power. He needed to hear her scream out. He just hoped there wouldn’t come a day where this stifled BDSM element would cease to pacify him.

Luke was starting to stand in front of Addison. Gabe could feel that his twin was calmer now that he had tasted her desire and pleasure. Gabe stood and waited for his brother to make the next move. Gabe had taken control enough for now.

Luke did just that then. He grabbed Addison by the face and pulled her into a kiss. Her body tensed for just a second at his sudden move but then she relaxed into his kiss. Gabe lightly rubbed his hand over her bare ass as they continued their kiss.

Finally, Luke released her face. They were both breathing heavily. Gabe then let his hand move down her ass and between her legs. His hand cupped her pussy from behind. His fingertips wet themselves in her juices. She responded nicely with a slight wiggle of her ass.

Luke spoke as he pulled Addison toward the bed. “Gabe, let’s make this a little easier for her.”

Gabe knew exactly what his twin wanted. He wanted Gabe to slowly open her for them both so this double taking was less painful. Luke obviously wanted the rest to be slightly softer, as soft as taking two men could be. Gabe snorted under his breath as he quickly turned and headed toward his dresser.

He retrieved a silver metal butt plug and turned back to find the other two climbing onto his bed. Luke laid down on his back and guided Addison to lay on top of him, but down a bit farther so her face was below his chest. She opened her legs so her knees were on the bed, in between his. Luke was brushing her hair off to one side of her back as Gabe returned to them.

“The best sight I could hope for.” Gabe reached up and ran a hand over her skin where the bright pink lines still showed. A few were even raised. “Addison, tell me what you’re thinking.”

She whimpered slightly as Gabe’s hand ran down her ass crack toward her pussy. With her legs open, her ass and pussy were nicely exposed and widened. Gabe swiped his finger through the very edge or her pussy lips and watched her arms quiver a little.

“I want my boys to take me. I want my men to come in me.”

Gabe’s lips lifted into a crooked smile. “We can do that for her. Can’t we, Luke?”

Suddenly, Luke brought both hands down onto her ass cheeks, causing a soft yelp to come from her. He pulled on each cheek, opening her asshole further. “Certainly.”

Excerpt:
ELEVATOR MAGIC
You know what? You can take your job and stick it.” Mad as hell I grabbed my purse and stomped out of the little cubicle I called my office. I was done here and I was never coming back and fuck the giving notice part.
The elevator always took ages to creak its way between floors and I could feel the stabbing pressure of what felt like a thousand eyes in my back. Of course they were all watching. They’d been waiting for something like this to happen for twenty months. Just then melodic chimes signaled the arrival of the executive elevator. The one that normal people like me are forbidden to ride in, the one for the exalted rich and the bosses who live in the penthouse. I wanted to escape the avid looks that were directed my way and, what the hell, what could they do anyway? Sack me?
So I stepped into it.
I turned and, just before the doors closed, got a good view of open mouths, staring eyes and was that…envy? It certainly looked like it from where I was standing. As the doors slid silently shut, I raised my hand and gave a little finger wave.

The car was bigger than my bedroom, and a thousand times more luxurious but I hardly noticed the mirrored walls and the thick-as-a-mattress carpet. My attention was caught and held by the two guys already in there, one on my left and one on my right.
My gaze darted between the two of them and I felt guilty colour sting my cheeks. I hadn’t expected company but I wasn’t objecting. These guys were fit and built. One dark-haired and smoooooth, the other blonde and just-got-in-out-of-the-wild rough.
And I knew them. Brandon Shaw and Mitchell Graham owned the company I work – ooops, scratch that – the company I used to work for. I’d met them at work events, like the Christmas party and the Halloween party and the Employee of the Year party. I’d seen them a couple of times from a distance. They always had a flock of female employees around them.
I’d heard people described as chick magnets but only realised exactly what it meant when I saw these two. I used to feel their magic pull yet always stayed away because initially I was in a relationship, and then afterwards was suffering from a broken heart and struggling to cope with a job where my ex was screwing a colleague. Pity my ex didn’t take a leaf out of these guys’ books – there was never any suggestion that they had slept with anyone from the company. Which meant in the end that there was a gentle rumor that they were a) gay, or b) didn’t like vanilla and went for the more exotic, with their tastes catered for elsewhere.
I positioned myself with my back to the wall and let my gaze slide over them. To my right was Brandon. He’d taken off his suit jacket and had it hooked over one shoulder. Beneath the fine fabric of his shirt I could see the hard muscle of a broad chest, arrowing down to a pair of narrow hips and a huge bulge... Oh man.
I licked my lips and dragged my reluctant gaze away to focus on his face. He was watching me scope him out. There was a hard predatory glint in his eyes. Heat speared through me from my cheekbones to my pussy, part embarrassment and part desire. I squeezed my thighs together to stop the growing ache.
I quickly glanced away and found myself checking out Mitchell on my left. He was slightly shorter than his partner, and seemed kinder and less predatory too. His eyes were a softer green, more jade than emerald. But his shoulders were as wide and he sported an identical erection. Were they lovers? A pity for womankind if they were gay. What a loss.
I shouldn’t be in the elevator with them in the first place but the new militant me with nothing to lose didn’t care. So instead of fixing my gaze on the floor and fighting the temptation to look again, I enjoyed the view. They put my slimeball ex to shame and my panties grew damp while they silently watched me. I wished that I was wearing something a little less conservative when the elevator jerked to a sudden halt.
Not a nice, slow, we’ve arrived kind of halt but the scary kind.
The lights went out.
Panic dug its claws into me, not letting go even when the emergency lighting kicked in.
What’s happening?” I didn’t even try and keep the terrified squeak out of my tone.
Hey,” Brandon said softly, “it’s going to be alright. They’ll have it fixed in no time.”
It’s broken?” I hated the idea of being shut in closed spaces, and the car, despite its size and luxury, suddenly felt very small. I couldn’t bear to spend hours locked in here hanging over all that empty space. The walls closed in, my hands and feet went cold, and I struggled to breath.
Now you’ve done it, Brandon.”
Easy.” When had they got so close to me? I was crowded by two warm male bodies that smelt good. Having them so close, almost touching me, took my mind off the elevator.
Rub her hands, Mitchell. Get some warmth into them, she’s freezing.”
Mitchell sandwiched my hands between his palms and rubbed hard. The movement distracted me, not because he was making my hands warmer, which he was, but because he kept bumping my breasts. Awareness rushed through me and my nipples went hard as cherry stones and poked at my blouse. Brandon’s hands rested lightly on my hips but they might as well have been brands. I could feel every finger as if there were no clothing between us. Woodsy cologne, mingled with clean male musk, swirled around me. My pussy creamed and I couldn’t help it; my wayward body leant back until I was pressed hard against Brandon.
His cock, huge and promising, seared my lower back. I couldn’t prevent a small sound escaping. I felt my cheeks go hot. What must they think of me?
Mitchell’s expression was rich with satisfaction in the dim light.
Shall we carry on distracting you, baby?”
I shivered, my panties drenched as my body answered the question for them. Brandon nuzzled the sensitive spot beneath my ear. His voice rumbled right through my body as he asked, “Ever been double-fucked before?”
The crude honesty of his question embarrassed me and I couldn’t answer. Then I forgot what he asked because Mitchell dropped to his knees in front of me. His hands stroked slowly up the back of my thighs. They smoothed over stockings, and then paused when they reached my lacy garters.

Sneak Peek Sunday- WIP Excerpt from the Ferae Sequel

Excerpt from the third book in the Ferae series

Jarrod eye the man down the barrel of his Glock 19. Compared to its normal feel it weighed less which meant that it's magazine was low.  Not that he needed a lot of bullets to put the man down but it was nice to have options.

“Drop it or I'll slit her throat,” the man said.  He tightened his hold as he placed the blade against the side of her neck right near her jugular.

“What if I don't care,” Jarrod replied still considering his options.  “Even if you do drop her, You still won't make it out of here alive.”

“You wish,” he said tensing his hand.

Jarrod squinted, focused his gaze and shot before the man could make a move.  A red dot appeared on his forehead.  His hands dropped to his side as he fell to the ground.

The woman quaked and screamed as she stared at her assailant.

“Go!  Leave now!” Jarrod ordered in Basque.

Stumbling a brief moment, the woman steadied her footing then ran away.

“Uriah I told you this would happen,” he said bending over the man's body.

Leafing through the man's pockets he smiled when he found what he was looking for.  A small black memory stick attached to a key.  He slipped it into his shirt pocket then walked away.

In the distance he heard the wailing of a police's siren. “So much for keeping this quiet.”

Determined not to be caught by the police, Jarrod ran behind the warehouse.  Seeing a small car, he broke the window with his elbow, unlocked the door and got inside.  He took out a small knife and cracked the steering column exposing several wires.  Crossing a couple of them, the old car's engine came to life.  He pulled away just as the police arrived.

Paranormal Love Wednesday- WIP Sequel To The Ferae

An Excerpt To My Sequel 'Blood Bond- The Ferae'

Evan Roberts sat down on the bench in the Beautiful Gardens.  The honking of cars along with sounds of people starting their day filled the air.  He opened a plastic bottle and drank the umber colored liquid inside.  The tea, felt cool refreshing on his tongue.  It quenched the harsh thirst his body had built in such a short amount of time.  He checked his watch.  Despite it being 7 am in the morning, the heat was already climbing.  But that was to be expected in downtown Erbil.  The kurdish city, nestled deep in the heart of Kurdistan felt like a slice of paradise in a sea of strife.

Though the entire region was tearing itself apart, the Kurd's managed to carve out bit of  peace and prosperity for themselves.  But it, like most places in the middle east, was mostly devoid of their kind.  Driven out by those who feared them and did not understand their ways, all of the remaining Ferae enclaves collapsed under the weight of centuries of hunting, bringing the native Ferae presence down to zero in the region.

Not an unfamiliar story for their people, it still broke his heart whenever he heard of the people being wiped from existence within a region.  For entire generations of families to live together under one roof, the Ferae way of living did not mix will with the expected standards of culture. They tried using the typical explanation of the Beta male being the uncle, but that did not fly when he never married and had a family of his own.  And no alpha in his right mind would allow his husband to marry another, thereby severing their bond and tearing the family apart.  It just wouldn't happen.
